Adolf Meyer and psychobiology
Prior to the 1960’s the medical model was the dominant model used by health professionals for diagnosing and treating patients. While the medical model was useful for defining and treating patients in an organized and efficient way, it was difficult to apply to psychology and psychiatry. Adolf Meyer addressed this issue and sought to reconcile the medical model to psychology, resulting in psychobiology. He wrote an article explaining how useful his theory of psychbiology is.
